The town of Sabalito* has spectacular views of Lake Arenal and two volcanoes. In the last few years it has attracted energetic sports-oriented early retirees from Europe and North America.
They are drawn to a variety of sports activities: Top-notch windsurfing and
kiteboarding on Lake Arenal, mountain biking
on adventurous trails, hiking and exploring the nearby rainforest. There is also
horseback riding, tennis and more.
This friendly little town is very safe and welcoming to foreigners. This is a great little community of active, exciting, educated health-conscious people who love to explore and live life to its fullest.
See howler monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds and lots of other animals in your own backyard. It is a birdwatcher's paradise!
Making this site has taken over a thousand hours of work. You can reward me by buying a book about Costa Rica from Amazon.com directly through the links at my other web site: www.ticocentral.com or help this community by donating a couple of dollars to the School Fund.
