When you first arrive in Costa Rica and especially if you do not speak the language it is easy to make unnecessary mistakes. Because of cultural differences and misunderstandings you may find yourself overpaying for services or making the wrong decisions.
It is nice to have someone you can run something by or to have along so you can feel more secure in your important dealings whether it is looking for a place to live, deciding on a contractor, a labor dispute or any of the many things that can occur. I have already made most of the mistakes so you don't have to go through them anymore.
