Windsurfing and Kiteboarding
There are two launch sites on the North end of Lake Arenal where the wind is the most consistent. Lake Arenal is famous for its incredibly strong winds. This attracts windsurfers
and kiteboarders from all over the world. Peak season is December through
March when the windsurfers mostly use sails in the range from 3.0
to 5.0. More about the wind and water conditions on Lake
Arenal.
Tico Wind
The launch site is between Mystica and Rio Piedras.
Tico
Wind has Neil Pryde and North sails and JP boards. Windsurf and
kiteboard rentals available. The equipment is well-maintained, mostly less than a year old. Tico Wind's season runs from December through the Easter week of April. If you have your own equipment you can store it there for a fee. Tico Wind gives lessons for both windsurfers and kiteboarders. A jetski is
available for assisting in lessons and rescues.
Tilawa
The launch site is about 3/4 mile from hotel Tilawa. They are open
all year. Lessons for windsurfers. Rentals only for hotel guests. No jetski.
